Yeshi’s crafts
I am Yeshi Choden, holding a Bachelor’s degree in English and Environmental Studies from Royal Thimphu College. From a young age, I was fascinated by creating paper dolls and designing their dresses. Later, during high school and college, I began knitting dresses, sweaters, and bags to complement my outfits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also tailored bags, masks, scrunchies, and wrap-on skirts.
I believe our country is incredibly beautiful, filled with endless sources of inspiration that passionate and creative designers can draw from and share with the world.
Creative Experiences
There have been many small yet meaningful milestones that have enriched my journey in design and crafts. To highlight a few:
2016 – Served as a Resource Person for Save the Children
2014 – Represented Project Bhutan at the Manipur Fashion Extravaganza
2013 – Secured second place as a designer in Nazhoen-ista, a fashion designing competition
I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I have received so far. My passion for design remains unwavering, and whether it is knitting, crocheting, tailoring, embroidery, or origami, I will continue to nurture and refine the skills I have.
Fashion vision BFW 2025
My designs will be inspired by the four seasons of Bhutan, each reflecting the unique beauty, colors, and moods they bring to life. Alongside this, I will incorporate themes from festivals celebrated across the world during these seasons, creating a fusion that celebrates both diversity and shared human experiences.
Through my collection, I wish to encourage people to embrace Carpe Diem, to live in the moment, while also staying grounded in their roots amidst an ever-evolving world.
Ultimately, my vision is to present an “old-school collection” infused with modern aesthetics, where tradition and innovation coexist. It will be a humble attempt to preserve cultural heritage while reimagining it for contemporary times.
What’s More?
I am immensely grateful to everyone who cheers me on for taking my dream closer to reality.
