Tsheyang Apparel and Accessories.

Tsheyang Apparel and Accessories is the dream of a girl who grew up in the southeastern part of Bhutan. Over the years, I developed a keen interest in sewing and began working as a tailor at one of the shops in Thimphu.

However, my heart longed to do something more than just stitching. I wanted to deepen my understanding of the fashion world and everything around it. This led me to enroll at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Thimphu where my journey as a designer truly began.

While learning my ropes, I worked as an assistant designer for Kencho Koture for almost three years. When the time felt right, I brought Tsheyang Apparel and Accessories to life in 2022. All these experiences have allowed me to explore the richness of Bhutanese textiles, and understand their significance and influence in Bhutanese fashion.

Creative experiences

My journey in the Bhutanese fashion industry has been a beautiful maze. At its growing stage, the industry presents its own set of challenges. However, fashion is not just about making clothes, but comes loaded with stories. For me personally, I remain facinated by the stories of the heroes behind the scenes, the weavers, whose labour of love I now have the honour of showcasing to the world through my designs.

I had the opportunity to be one of the designers to present my collection during the Metamorphosis Fashion show held at the Royal Textile Academy, where I showcased the woven textiles of Khoma, Lhuentse. I believe my pieces are comfortable, relaxed and easy to wear, with a blend of contemporary silhouettes. As for my inspiration, I have always adored Minju Kim, whose design feels especially relatable to me.

Fashion vision BFW 2025

My collection for the BFW draws inspiration from the energy and spirit of Tshechu- a cherished celebration that epitomises Bhutanese culture. Tshechu’s kaleidoscope of colors, lively dances, and festive energy have been a wellspring of inspiration, guiding me in creating a line that embodies the harmony of our traditions and the vitality of our people.

Through the interplay of bold hues, intricate patterns, and dynamic forms, this collection celebrates Bhutan’s deep love for its culture, bringing the essence of Tshechu to life in every piece.BFW gives an opportunity for a growing designer like me to showcase my love for design. Through BFW 2025, I am expecting to connect with new markets both national and international, as well as opportunity for collaboration with designers and artisans.
